Natal está chegando quando- Christmas is coming when…

Primeiro, eu vou ler em Inglês devagar. Depois, você vai ter que traduzir de Português para Inglês. First, I’m going to read in English slowly. Afterwards you will need to translate from Portuguese to English.

Part 1: English, slow reading

Right after Thanksgiving in the United States, Christmas decorations go up all around town. Stores make very beautiful window displays, ice skating rinks are opened and Christmas lights are hung on houses, trees and on street poles. It’s very festive!

One of my favorite activities is baking cookies with my mom. Every year when I was growing up, my mom and I prepared sugar cookies, which are frosted cookies in the shapes of Christmas trees, ornaments and stars. We normally deliver plates of cookies to our neighbors and they deliver some cookies to us!

Although it doesn’t snow in the area where my  parents live in California, it’s still very cold at Christmas time. That’s why when we go out, we have to wear large coats, beanies and scarves. It makes me happy that many coffee shops sell peppermint hot chocolate, which is a typical drink of the season. Eggnog and hot apple cider are also popular drinks that can help you warm up from the cold!
